How to Use the PSA Density Calculator
This PSA Density Calculator is designed to help you assess the PSA density by considering the PSA level and prostate volume, providing insights into prostate cancer risk. Follow these steps to properly use this tool.
Step 1: Enter PSA Level
Begin by entering the PSA Level (in ng/mL). This is a required field. Please ensure the PSA level falls within the valid range, which is 0 to 1000 ng/mL. The calculator allows input in increments as small as 0.01 for precision.
Step 2: Enter Prostate Volume
Next, input the Prostate Volume (in cc/mL). Like the previous step, this field is mandatory. Ensure the volume is between 0 and 1000 cc/mL. The input accepts increments as fine as 0.01, allowing for accurate data entry.
Step 3: Select Measurement Unit
Choose the Measurement Unit that applies to your calculation. You have two options:
- ng/mL per cc
- ng/mL per gram
This field is required for the calculation process. Select the unit that aligns with your data or preference, ensuring consistency in measurement.
Step 4: View Results
After entering all required fields, the calculator will automatically compute the results. You will see two results:
- PSA Density: This is the computed value displayed in ng/mL/cc with three decimal places for precision.
- Risk Assessment: This indicates the risk level associated with the calculated PSA density. You will either fall into “Lower Risk (PSAD < 0.15)" or "Higher Risk (PSAD ≥ 0.15)." The risk level is determined based on a PSA density threshold of 0.15.
