How to Use the Average Pace Calculator
The Average Pace Calculator is a tool designed to help you compute the total time, average pace, and speed per hour based on the distance travelled and the time taken. Follow the steps below to use this calculator effectively.
Step 1: Enter the Required Inputs
- Distance: Enter the distance you have travelled. This value must be a positive number with at least 0.01 units. Use the placeholder text “Enter distance” as a guide.
- Distance Unit: Choose the unit of distance from the provided options. You can select either Kilometers or Miles.
- Hours: Input the number of hours it took to cover the distance. This should be a non-negative whole number.
- Minutes: Enter the number of minutes, ensuring it is a value between 0 and 59.
- Seconds: Input the number of seconds, with the constraint that it should be between 0 and 59.
Step 2: Understand the Calculations
Once the required fields are filled correctly, the calculator will process the inputs and compute the outputs using the following logic:
- Total Time in Minutes: This is calculated with the formula (hours * 60) + minutes + (seconds / 60), giving the total time taken in minutes.
- Average Pace (Minutes per Unit): The formula used is totalMinutes / distance, which gives the average pace or time taken per unit of distance in minutes.
- Speed per Hour: This is calculated using distance / (totalMinutes / 60), representing the speed in units per hour.
Step 3: Review the Results
The results of your calculations will be displayed in the specified formats, showing the precise total time in minutes, average pace per unit, and the speed per hour.
Your results will include:
- Total Time in Minutes: Displayed as a number with two decimal places, followed by “minutes”.
- Average Pace (Minutes per Unit): This result will be shown to two decimal places, indicated by “min/unit”.
- Speed per Hour: Presented as a number with two decimal places, followed by “units/hour”.
Use these results to gain insights into your pace and speed over the covered distance.
