How to Use the Splits Calculator
The Splits Calculator is designed to help you determine your running pace and split times based on your selected race distance and target time. Follow the steps below to use the calculator effectively:
Selecting Your Race Distance
- Locate the Race Distance drop-down menu.
- Select the desired race distance from the options provided:
- 5K (5000m)
- 10K (10000m)
- Half Marathon (21.0975km)
- Marathon (42.195km)
Entering Your Target Time
- Find the Target Time (minutes) input field.
- Enter the time you aim to complete the race in, expressed in minutes. Ensure your input falls within the accepted range of 1 to 1440 minutes, with increments as precise as 0.01.
Choosing Your Split Distance
- Access the Split Distance selection menu.
- Choose your preferred split distance from the list available:
- 1km
- 1 mile
- 5km
Understanding Your Results
After inputting your race specifications and target time, review the calculated results that will help you organize your race pace and strategy:
- Average Pace per Kilometer: This figure will show your target pace expressed as minutes per kilometer, based on your total target time and selected race distance.
- Average Pace per Mile: This field provides your average pace in minutes per mile.
- Time per Split: Here, you’ll find the time it will take to complete each of your chosen split distances at your target pace.
- Number of Complete Splits: See how many complete split segments you will finish within the total race distance.
- Remaining Distance: Any distance left after the final complete split will be shown here in meters.
- Time for Final Partial Split: If there’s a remaining distance after full splits, this time reflects the duration required to cover it.
