How to Use the Teacher Grading Calculator
The Teacher Grading Calculator is a helpful tool designed to assist educators in calculating grades based on assignment type, points earned, total possible points, and assignment weight. Follow the steps below to efficiently use the calculator:
Step 1: Select Assignment Type
- Locate the Assignment Type field.
- Use the dropdown menu to select the type of assignment you are grading. The options include Homework, Quiz, Test, Project, and Participation.
- Ensure this field is filled as it is required for the calculation.
Step 2: Enter Points Earned
- Find the Points Earned field.
- Enter the number of points the student earned on the assignment.
- Note that this field accepts numerical values only and must be greater than or equal to 0. It is also a required field.
- The points can be entered in increments of 0.5.
Step 3: Enter Total Possible Points
- Access the Total Possible Points field.
- Input the total number of points possible for the assignment.
- This is a required field, and the value must be greater than 0.1.
- The input can be made in increments of 0.5.
Step 4: Enter Assignment Weight
- Find the Assignment Weight (%) field.
- Enter the weight of the assignment as a percentage. This reflects how much the assignment contributes to the final grade.
- This is also a required field, with acceptable values ranging from 0 to 100, entered in increments of 0.1.
Step 5: Review Results
- Once all input fields are completed, the calculator will automatically provide results in the following categories:
- Percentage Score: This result shows the percentage score of the assignment, calculated as (
pointsEarned / totalPoints * 100
), and is displayed to two decimal places. - Weighted Score: This represents the score based on the weight of the assignment, calculated as (
pointsEarned / totalPoints * weight
), and is displayed as a percentage with two decimal places. - Letter Grade: This result translates the percentage score into a letter grade using the standard A, B, C, D, F grading system.
- GPA Points: This represents the GPA points for the assignment, ranging from 0.0 to 4.0, depending on the percentage score, and displayed with one decimal place.
Using these steps, educators can easily and efficiently calculate and interpret grades for each assignment.
