Welcome to the Port Calculator. This tool is designed to help you calculate various fees associated with docking a vessel at a port. Follow the steps below to effectively use the calculator.
Step 1: Input Vessel Information
- Vessel Length: Input the length of your vessel in meters. This is a required field with a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 500. Make sure the value you enter falls within this range.
- Vessel Type: Select the type of vessel from the dropdown menu. The options available include Container Ship, Bulk Carrier, Tanker, and Passenger Ship. This selection affects the calculation of the docking fee.
Step 2: Specify Docking Details
- Number of Docking Days: Enter the number of days you plan to dock at the port. This field requires a value between 1 and 365.

- Arrival Date: Select the arrival date of your vessel. This must be a date between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025.
Step 3: Understanding the Calculated Results
- Base Docking Fee: This value is calculated based on the formula: vessel length x 10 x docking days x vessel type. The final amount is displayed in USD, formatted to two decimal places.
- Cargo Handling Fee: Calculated as cargo tonnage x 2.5. This figure represents the cost of handling the cargo and is displayed in USD.
- Environmental Fee: This fee is the sum of (docking fee x 0.05) + (cargo tonnage x 0.1). The final amount is displayed in USD.
- Total Port Charges: This is the total amount due, derived from adding the docking fee, cargo handling fee, and environmental fee. It’s presented in USD.
- Estimated Departure Date: This is calculated by adding the docking days to the arrival date. The date is formatted as YYYY-MM-DD, providing you with an accurate departure estimate.
Ensure all required fields are filled accurately to get precise calculations. Double-check your inputs for any discrepancies to avoid miscalculations. Thank you for using the Port Calculator.
