Step 1: Input Your Initial Investment
Start by entering your initial investment amount in the field labeled as Initial Investment ($). This is a required field, and the amount should be a minimum of $1. You can enter the amount with up to two decimal places.
Step 2: Enter the Interest Rate
Next, input the annual interest rate in the field labeled Interest Rate (%). This field is also required, and the interest rate should be between 0.01% and 100%. You can specify up to two decimal places for precision.
Step 3: Choose the Compounding Frequency
Select the frequency at which the interest is compounded from the dropdown list labeled Compounding Frequency. Options include:
- Annually
- Semi-annually
- Quarterly
- Monthly
- Daily
This is a required field, and your choice determines how often interest is added to your investment.
Step 4: Specify the Investment Duration
Enter the duration of your investment in years in the field labeled Investment Time (Years). The value must be at least 0.08333 years (approximately 1 month) and can be up to a maximum of 50 years. This is a required field where incremental adjustments are possible every 0.08333 years.
Step 5: Calculate Your Results
After you have entered all the necessary information, the calculator will compute the following results:
- Annual Percentage Yield (APY): The effective annual rate of return expressed as a percentage, with two decimal places.
- Future Value: The total amount of money that the investment will grow to at the end of the investment period, displayed in USD.
- Total Interest Earned: The total interest amount earned over the investment period, shown in USD.
- Effective Interest Rate: The effective rate calculated over the investment period, shown as a percentage with two decimal places.
