Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Flight Time Calculator

The Flight Time Calculator is a useful tool designed to help you calculate various time aspects related to your flight, including total flight time, arrival time at the destination, and the elapsed time of your journey. Follow the steps below to efficiently use this calculator.

Step 1: Enter Departure Date & Time

Begin by entering your flight’s departure date and time in the provided input field. This field is labeled as Departure Date & Time.

  • Make sure the date falls within the allowed range between 2024-01-01 and 2026-12-31.
  • This field is required, so you must provide a valid date and time before proceeding.

Step 2: Input Flight Duration

Next, provide details about the flight’s duration. This is done in two separate fields:

  • Flight Duration (Hours): Enter the number of hours your flight will take. Valid values range from 0 to 20, and can be entered in increments of 0.5.
  • Flight Duration (Minutes): Enter the number of additional minutes for the flight’s duration. Valid values range from 0 to 59, and can be entered in increments of 1.

Both fields are required, so ensure that you input the correct values to proceed.

Step 3: Specify Time Zone Difference

Select the time zone difference between your departure location and your destination from the Time Zone Difference dropdown menu.

  • The options range from UTC-12 to UTC+12.
  • This field is also mandatory. Choose the applicable time zone difference to ensure accurate calculations.

Step 4: Review Calculations

Once all necessary inputs are provided, the calculator will automatically display the results in the following fields:

  • Total Flight Time: This calculates the combined hours and minutes of your flight duration, formatted to two decimal places, and includes a suffix of “hours”.
  • Arrival Time (Local): This field shows the local arrival time at your destination, factoring in your total flight duration and time zone difference. The time is formatted as “YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm”.
  • Elapsed Time: This calculates the elapsed time as the difference between the arrival time and the departure time, shown with two decimal places and a suffix of “hours”.

Ensure all the calculated information meets your expectations. If any entries need to be adjusted, revisit the relevant input fields and amend the data accordingly.
