  • Room Length: Enter the length of the room in feet. Ensure that your value is a number greater than zero, and you can use a precision of up to one decimal place, such as 12.5 feet.
  • Room Width: Input the width of the room in feet, adhering to the same validation criteria as the room length.
  • Room Height: Fill in the height of the room in feet. Use accurate measurements for reliable results.

Step 2: Select Air Changes per Hour (ACH)

Select the desired air changes per hour from the dropdown menu:

  • Minimum (6 changes/hour) – Choose this for moderate ventilation.
  • Standard (8 changes/hour) – Suitable for typical residential settings.
  • Above Average (10 changes/hour) – Ideal for spaces where better airflow is preferred.
  • High Performance (12 changes/hour) – Recommended for areas requiring superior air quality.
  • Maximum (15 changes/hour) – Select for environments demanding the highest ventilation levels.

Step 3: Interpret the Results

Once all inputs are provided, the calculator will compute the following:

  • Room Volume: This is automatically calculated using the formula length x width x height. The volume will be presented in cubic feet with up to two decimal places for precision.
  • Required CFM: The calculator determines the cubic feet per minute airflow required to achieve the selected air changes per hour, using the formula (length x width x height x air changes) / 60. The result will indicate the necessary CFM, formatted to two decimal places.
  • CFM per Square Foot: Finally, the tool divides the required CFM by the room’s square footage (length x width) to yield the CFM per square foot value, helping you gauge airflow efficiency at a per-square-foot level.
