Using the Steel Weight Calculator

The Steel Weight Calculator is designed to help you quickly and easily determine the volume and weight of various steel profiles. By filling out the necessary fields in the calculator, you can get precise measurements of steel components for your projects.

Step 1: Select the Steel Profile

  • Open the calculator and navigate to the Steel Profile section.
  • Use the dropdown menu to select the shape of the steel component you are working with. Options include:

    • Round Bar
    • Square Bar
    • Rectangular Bar
    • Hollow Round
    • Hollow Square
    • Hollow Rectangular
    • Sheet/Plate
  • Choosing the correct profile is crucial as it determines which additional measurements are required.

Step 2: Enter the Dimensions

After selecting the profile, provide the necessary dimensions:

  • Length (mm): Enter the length of the piece; this field is mandatory for all shapes.
  • Diameter (mm): Required only for Round Bar and Hollow Round. Ensure a minimum value of 1 mm.
  • Width (mm): Applicable for Square Bar, Rectangular Bar, Hollow Square, Hollow Rectangular, and Sheet/Plate. Input a value of at least 1 mm.
  • Height (mm): Necessary for Rectangular Bar and Hollow Rectangular. The minimum accepted input is 1 mm.
  • Thickness (mm): Needed for Hollow Round, Hollow Square, Hollow Rectangular, and Sheet/Plate. Enter a thickness of no less than 0.1 mm.

Step 3: View the Results

Once you have entered the necessary information, the calculator will automatically compute the following results:

  • Volume (mm³): The calculated volume of the steel section, formatted to two decimal places.
  • Weight (kg): The weight of the section, calculated by multiplying the volume by the density of steel (0.00000785 kg/mm³), again with precision up to two decimal places.
  • Weight in Tons (tons): This is the weight in kg divided by 1000, displayed to three decimal places for precision.

Ensure that all fields are filled with correct and valid values to obtain accurate results. By following these steps, you can efficiently use the Steel Weight Calculator for all your steel weighing needs.
