This Kilowatt Hour Calculator will help you estimate the energy consumption and cost of operating any electrical appliance. Follow the detailed steps below to make the most of this tool.
Step 1: Select Your Appliance
- Start by selecting the appliance you wish to calculate energy usage for from the Common Appliances dropdown list. If your appliance is not listed or you want to use a specific wattage, choose Custom Wattage.
Step 2: Enter the Appliance Wattage
- If you selected a predefined appliance, the wattage is automatically filled. If you selected Custom Wattage, manually enter the power rating of your appliance in watts.
- Ensure the wattage is within the allowable range of 0 to 10,000 watts.
Step 3: Specify Usage Parameters
- Enter the number of hours the appliance is used per day in the Hours Used Per Day field. You can specify fractional hours up to 0.5 steps, ranging from 0 to 24 hours.
- Input the number of days the appliance is used per month in the Days Used Per Month field. This should be a whole number between 0 and 31.
Step 4: Provide Electricity Rate
- Enter the cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in the Electricity Rate (per kWh) field. This value should be a positive number and can include fractions.
Step 5: Review Computed Results
- Once the necessary values are entered, the calculator will automatically compute and display the following:
- Daily Consumption: Shows the amount of energy consumed daily in kWh.
- Monthly Consumption: Displays the total kWh used over a month.
- Yearly Consumption: Indicates annual energy usage, calculated from monthly consumption.
