How to Use the Tank Size Calculator

This guide will help you navigate through the Tank Size Calculator to determine the volume and surface area of a tank. Follow the steps below for accurate calculations.

Step 1: Input the Tank Dimensions

  • Tank Length: Begin by entering the tank’s length in meters. Ensure the value is between 0.1 and 100 meters. Use increments of 0.01 meters for precision.
  • Tank Width: Enter the width of the tank in meters. Like the length, this value should fall within 0.1 to 100 meters and can be incremented by 0.01 meters.
  • Tank Height: Input the tank’s height in meters, adhering to the same range of 0.1 to 100 meters. Increments can also be made by 0.01 meters.

Step 2: Select the Tank Shape

Select the shape of the tank from the available options:

  • Rectangular: Choose this option if your tank has a rectangular shape.
  • Cylindrical: Select this if the tank is cylindrical.

This selection is crucial as it determines the calculation logic used for both volume and surface area.

Step 3: Review the Calculated Results

After entering the necessary information, review the calculated results provided by the calculator:

  • Volume in Cubic Meters: The calculator will display the volume of the tank in cubic meters, formatted to two decimal places with the suffix ‘m³’.
  • Volume in Liters: The result is also shown in liters, which is the volume in cubic meters multiplied by 1000. This is rounded to the nearest whole number with the suffix ‘L’.
  • Volume in Gallons: Additionally, you will see the volume converted to gallons. This is calculated by multiplying the volume in liters by 0.264172 and is displayed as a whole number followed by ‘gal’.
  • Surface Area: The surface area is computed based on the tank shape, shown in square meters (m²), rounded to two decimal places.

Use these results for any further calculations or requirements you may have regarding tank storage capacity or material estimates.
