How to Use the Complex Number Calculator

Step 1: Enter the First Complex Number

Begin by entering the first complex number into the calculator. You will need to input both the real part and the imaginary part:

  • Real Part: Type in the real component of the first complex number in the field labeled “First Number – Real Part”.
  • Imaginary Part: Enter the imaginary component into the field labeled “First Number – Imaginary Part”.

Ensure that both parts are numeric values, as they are required inputs. You can use any numeric value, including decimals.

Step 2: Enter the Second Complex Number

Next, move on to input the second complex number. Similar to the first one, this requires both the real and imaginary parts:

  • Real Part: Input the real component of the second complex number in the field labeled “Second Number – Real Part”.
  • Imaginary Part: Provide the imaginary component in the field labeled “Second Number – Imaginary Part”.

Both these fields are also mandatory, and you should enter them as numeric values.

Step 3: Select the Operation

Now it’s time to choose the operation you wish to perform on the complex numbers. The calculator provides a selection of operations:

  • Addition (+)
  • Subtraction (-)
  • Multiplication (×)
  • Division (÷)
