Step-by-Step Guide to Using the CRS Score Calculator
This guide will walk you through the process of using the CRS Score Calculator effectively. Follow each step detailed below to ensure you enter the correct information and obtain a precise score.
Step 1: Enter Your Age
Age: Provide your age in years. The calculator requires an age between 18 and 45. It calculates age points based on your input, with maximum points allocated for ages 18-35.
Step 2: Select Your Education Level
Education Level: Choose your highest level of education from the provided options. Each level corresponds to a specific number of points:
- Less than secondary school: 0 points
- Secondary diploma: 28 points
- One-year program degree: 84 points
- Two-year program degree: 91 points
- Bachelor’s degree: 112 points
- Two or more certificates/degrees: 126 points
- Master’s degree or PhD: 140 points
Step 3: Choose Your First Official Language Test
First Official Language: Select the language test you have taken between CELPIP and IELTS. Ensure you have your test scores ready for the following section.
Step 4: Enter Your Language Test Scores
Input your scores for each language skill. Make sure these are accurate as they heavily influence your final CRS score.
- Speaking Score: Enter a number between 0 and 10.
- Listening Score: Enter a number between 0 and 10.
- Reading Score: Enter a number between 0 and 10.
- Writing Score: Enter a number between 0 and 10.
Step 5: Add Your Work Experience
Years of Work Experience: Input the total number of years you have worked. Experience points are calculated based on this number, with a maximum allocation for five years or more.
Step 6: Indicate if You Are Applying with a Spouse/Partner
Applying with Spouse/Partner? Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ depending on your situation. This helps determine if additional points might be applicable in a different calculation scenario.
Calculation of Scores
Once all inputs are entered accurately, the calculator will compute various scores:
- Age Points: Based on your age provided.
- Education Points: Directly from the education level you selected.
- Language Points: Compiled from the scores in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Work Experience Points: Based on the total years of work experience.
- Total CRS Score: The sum of the above points.
