  • Type of Calculation: Utilize the dropdown menu labeled “Type of Calculation” to choose between two options: Population Variance and Sample Variance.
  • Make sure this selection reflects the nature of your data, as it influences the variance calculation method.

Step 3: Analyzing Results

Once your data and calculation preferences are entered, the calculator automatically computes various statistical values:

  • Mean (Average): The average of your data points is computed as the sum of the values divided by the number of entries, maintaining precision to four decimal places.
  • Variance: Based on your selection in Step 2, variance is calculated. The formula differs slightly between population and sample variance. The result is presented with four decimal places.
  • Standard Deviation: This statistic is derived as the square root of the variance, rounded to four decimal places, and represents the dispersion of the dataset.
  • Number of Values: This simply counts the total number of entries, displayed as a whole number.
  • Sum of Values: The sum of your data points is also provided, which is helpful for quick cross-references, shown with four decimal places.
