How to Use the Abitur (Abi) Grade Calculator

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for using the Abitur Grade Calculator to calculate your German Abitur grade based on your examination results. Follow these instructions carefully to ensure your results are accurate.

Step 1: Gather Your Examination Grades

  1. Assemble Your Written Examination Grades:

Collect your grades from all written examinations. Each grade should be between 0 and 15 points.

  2. Compile Your Oral Examination Grades:

Similarly, gather the grades from your oral examinations. Each of these grades must also fall between 0 and 15 points.

  3. Gather Your Basic Course Grades:

Collect the grades you received in your basic courses. Again, each grade should range from 0 to 15 points.

  4. Identify the Number of Failed Courses:

Determine how many courses you failed by receiving a grade of 0 points. Record this number, ensuring it does not exceed 8.

Step 2: Input Your Data

  1. Enter Written Examination Grades:

In the calculator, locate the field labeled “Block I: Written Examination Grades (0-15 points)”. Enter the total points from all your written exams in this field.

  2. Submit Oral Examination Grades:

Go to the field titled “Block II: Oral Examination Grades (0-15 points)” and input the total points from your oral exams.

  3. Input Basic Course Grades:

Find the field named “Block III: Basic Course Grades (0-15 points)”. Enter the cumulative points from your basic courses here.

  4. Record Failed Courses:

In the field “Number of Failed Courses (0 points)”, enter the number of courses you failed.

Step 3: Review Your Results

  1. Check Total Points:

Once all data is entered, the calculator will automatically compute your total points using the formula: (blockOneGrades * 4) + (blockTwoGrades * 4) + (blockThreeGrades * 40). Review your total points.

  2. Understand Your Final Abitur Grade:

The calculator will then calculate your Final Abitur Grade using the formula: ((900 - totalPoints) / 60) + 1. Your grade will be displayed to one decimal point.

  3. Determine Your Pass/Fail Status:

The calculator assesses whether you have passed or failed. You will pass if your total points are 300 or more, and you have failed 8 or fewer courses. The respective status “Passed” or “Failed” will be indicated.

Make sure all entries are cross-checked for accuracy to obtain the correct results.
