Arrow Weight Calculator

The Arrow Weight Calculator helps users estimate the total weight of an arrow in grains based on specified input fields such as arrow length, shaft weight, point weight, insert weight, nock weight, fletching weight, and the number of fletchings.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Arrow Weight Calculator

Step 1: Input Arrow Specifications

Begin by entering the essential specifications of your arrow. This information will be used to calculate the total weight of your arrow.

  • Arrow Length (inches): Enter the length of the arrow in inches. It must be between 20 and 32 inches, and can be specified up to three decimal places with a step of 0.125.
  • Shaft Weight (grains per inch): Specify the weight of the shaft in grains per inch. This should be between 5 and 15 grains and can be entered using increments of 0.1.

Step 2: Select Point Weight

Choose the weight of the arrow point from the available options.

  • This is a dropdown selection. Available options include 75, 85, 100, 125, and 150 grains. Ensure to select the appropriate weight that suits your arrow setup.

Step 3: Enter Additional Component Weights

Provide the weights for additional components of the arrow. These components further influence the overall weight of the arrow.

  • Insert Weight (grains): Enter the weight of the insert. It should be between 0 and 50 grains, with an increment of 1 grain.
  • Nock Weight (grains): Enter the weight of the nock, ranging from 0 to 30 grains. It can have a decimal value with a step of 0.1.
  • Fletching Weight (grains per vane): Provide the weight of one fletching vane, which should be between 0 and 15 grains, allowing for decimal precision with a step of 0.1.
  • Number of Fletchings: Choose between 3 or 4 fletchings for your arrow setup using the dropdown menu.

Step 4: View the Calculated Results

Once all the inputs have been filled in, view the calculated outcomes of your data.

  • Total Shaft Weight: This is calculated using the formula: arrowLength * shaftWeight. It is displayed with one decimal place and in grains.
  • Total Fletching Weight: The weight of all fletchings together, computed as: fletchingWeight * fletchingCount. The result is shown with one decimal place, expressed in grains.
  • Total Arrow Weight: This is the combined weight of all arrow components, calculated as: (arrowLength * shaftWeight) + pointWeight + insertWeight + nockWeight + (fletchingWeight * fletchingCount). Displayed with one decimal place in grains.
  • Finished Grains Per Inch: Showing the grains per inch of the completed arrow, calculated using: totalArrowWeight / arrowLength. This is presented with two decimal places, labeled in GPI.

By following these steps, you can accurately determine the overall weight of your arrow setup using the Arrow Weight Calculator.
