Using the Basic Calculator

The Basic Calculator is designed to perform a variety of mathematical operations in a user-friendly and efficient manner. Follow the steps below to utilize all its features effectively.

Step 1: Input the First Number

  • Locate the input field labeled First Number.
  • Enter a numerical value in the field. Ensure it’s between -999,999,999 and 999,999,999 inclusive.
  • This number can be a whole number or a decimal; the calculator accepts any numeric type.

Step 2: Select the Operation

  • Find the dropdown menu labeled Operation.
  • Click on the dropdown to view the available operations, which include:
    • Addition (+)
    • Subtraction (-)
    • Multiplication (×)
    • Division (÷)
    • Power (^)
    • Square Root (√)
  • Select the operation you wish to perform. Note: The Square Root operation will only use the first number.

Step 3: Input the Second Number

  • Locate the input field labeled Second Number. This step is optional if you have selected the Square Root operation.
  • Enter a numerical value in the field within the range -999,999,999 to 999,999,999 inclusive.
  • This number is necessary for operations that require two operands, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and power.

Step 4: View the Result

  • After entering the necessary inputs and selecting an operation, the calculator will instantly compute the result.
  • The output will be displayed in three formats:
    • Result: The basic operation result, formatted to four decimal places.
    • Scientific Notation: The basic result represented in scientific notation with two decimal places, followed by “e0”.
    • As Percentage: The basic result presented as a percentage, formatted to two decimal places.
