Using the EER (Estimated Energy Requirement) Calculator
The EER Calculator is designed to help you estimate your daily and weekly energy requirements based on your personal attributes and activity level. Follow these steps to calculate your Estimated Energy Requirement.
Step 1: Input Your Personal Information
Age (years): Enter your age in the provided field. Make sure your age is between 1 and 120 years, as these are the valid limit values.
Weight (kg): Input your weight in kilograms. The acceptable weight range is between 20 kg and 300 kg.
Height (cm): Provide your height in centimeters. It should be between 100 cm and 250 cm.
Step 2: Select Your Gender
Select your gender from the provided options. Click on either “Male” or “Female” to continue.
Step 3: Pick Your Physical Activity Level
Choose your physical activity level from the list. The options include:
- Sedentary: Activity level of 1.0
- Low Active: Activity level of 1.12
- Active: Activity level of 1.27
- Very Active: Activity level of 1.45
Your choice will influence the Estimated Energy Requirement calculation.
Step 4: Calculating Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
The calculator will automatically compute your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) based on the information you provided using the following formula:
For males: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) + 5
For females: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) – 161
The result will be in kilocalories per day (kcal/day) and rounded to the nearest whole number.
Step 5: Calculate Your Estimated Energy Requirement (EER)
Your EER is calculated by multiplying your BMR by your chosen physical activity level. The output is your daily energy requirement in kcal/day.
Step 6: Determine Your Weekly Energy Requirement
The weekly energy requirement is computed by multiplying your daily EER by 7. This result will give you an understanding of your total energy requirements over a week, in kcal/week.
Ensure all inputs are correct and the calculator will generate all necessary outputs seamlessly.
