Guide to Using the Exact Value Calculator

Step 1: Enter the Initial Number

Begin by locating the input field labeled Initial Number. This field is designed to accept numerical values within the range of -1,000,000 to 1,000,000. Enter the number you wish to process in this field. It is a required field, so ensure the number is within the specified limits.

Step 2: Select the Operation

The next step is to choose the desired mathematical operation from the dropdown menu labeled Operation. This field provides four options:

  • Round to nearest: This option will round your number to the nearest value based on the precision you specify.
  • Floor (round down): Choose this to round down to the closest lesser value according to the specified precision.
  • Ceiling (round up): This will round up to the nearest higher value, depending on the precision input.
  • Absolute Value: Select this option to get the absolute value of the number, regardless of any decimal places.

Select one option to proceed. This selection is required for the calculation.

Step 3: Define the Precision

After selecting the operation, move to the input field labeled Decimal Places. This field is for specifying the number of decimal places to which your number will be rounded. Enter a whole number between 0 and 10. Ensure you input a valid number as it is a required field and determines the precision of your calculation.

Step 4: Review the Results

Once you have entered all the required information, the calculator will provide you with three results:

  • Exact Value: This shows the processed number according to your chosen operation and specified precision. It is formatted to display up to ten decimal places.
  • Difference from Original: This field calculates the absolute difference between the initial number and the exact value after processing.
  • Percentage Change: If the initial number is not zero, this field displays the percentage change from the original number to the exact value. The result is formatted to four decimal places.

Review these fields to understand how your initial number has been transformed according to your inputs.
