How to Use the Golf Handicap Calculator
This Golf Handicap Calculator is designed to help you determine your handicap index based on your recent scores and other relevant golf course information. Follow the steps below to use this tool effectively.
Step 1: Input Your Scores

Score 1:
Enter your first golf score in the Score 1 field. Make sure it is a number between 30 and 200, as this is the valid range. -
Score 2:
Enter your second golf score in the Score 2 field, adhering to the same range as above. -
Score 3:
Enter your third golf score in the Score 3 field, also ensuring it falls between 30 and 200.
Step 2: Enter Course Information

Course Par:
Input the par for the course in the Course Par field. Valid values should be between 65 and 75. -
Course Rating:
Enter the course rating into the Course Rating field. This should be a number between 65 and 78, and can be in increments of 0.1. -
Slope Rating:
Add the slope rating in the Slope Rating field. Acceptable values range from 55 to 155.
Step 3: Select Your Player Level
Select your skill level from the Player Level dropdown menu. Choose one of the following:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
Step 4: Review Your Results
After entering all the required data, the calculator will provide several results:

Differential 1, 2, and 3:
These are calculated using your entered scores and course information to give you an adjusted number that reflects your performance relative to the course. They will be shown to one decimal place. -
Average Differential:
This is the mean of your three differentials, also presented to one decimal place. -
Handicap Index:
Calculated as 96% of your average differential, this index provides a numeric estimate of your golfing ability. It is displayed with the suffix ‘ HI.’ -
Course Plus Handicap:
This value adjusts your handicap index based on course-specific factors. It is rounded to the nearest whole number.
