- Width (meters): Enter the width of the shape in the next field. Similar to the length, this is a required field and should be a non-negative number that can be accurate to two decimal points.
- Height (meters): Add the height dimension of your shape in this field. This is also a necessary input that must be a non-negative number, allowing for precision up to two decimal points.
Step 2: Select the Shape Type
Choose the type of shape for which you want to calculate the lateral surface area. The available options are:
- Rectangular Prism: Select this option if your shape is a rectangular prism.
- Triangular Prism: Choose this if your shape is a triangular prism.
- Cylinder: Select this option if your shape resembles a cylinder.
The field for selecting the shape type is required to proceed with any calculations.
Step 3: Calculate the Surface Areas

- The Lateral Surface Area will be computed based on your input parameters and displayed on the screen. It is calculated differently depending on the shape type you selected. The result will be displayed with up to two decimal places and will have a “m²” suffix for clarity.
- The Total Surface Area will also be calculated using the respective formulas for each shape type. Like the lateral area, it is presented with up to two decimal places and bears the “m²” suffix.
