How to Use the Muscle Mass Calculator

The Muscle Mass Calculator is designed to help you determine various body composition metrics, including lean body mass, muscle mass, and body fat percentage. Please follow the steps below to use the calculator effectively.

Step 1: Provide Your Personal Information

  • Weight (kg): Enter your body weight in kilograms. Ensure it is between 30 kg and 300 kg, keeping in mind the minimum and maximum limits. You can enter values in increments of 0.1 kg.
  • Height (cm): Enter your height in centimeters. The height should be between 100 cm and 250 cm, with measurements allowed in steps of 0.1 cm.
  • Age (years): Input your age, which must be between 18 and 100 years. The age should be entered in whole numbers.
  • Gender: Select your gender from the options provided. The available options are ‘Male’ and ‘Female’. This selection is crucial as it affects the calculation of lean body mass and muscle mass.

Step 2: Measure Circumferences

  • Wrist Circumference (cm): Measure around your wrist and enter the circumference in centimeters. This measurement should fall between 10 cm and 25 cm, with a precision of 0.1 cm.
  • Waist Circumference (cm): Measure around your waist and enter the circumference. The acceptable range is between 50 cm and 200 cm, with 0.1 cm increments.
  • Forearm Circumference (cm): Measure the circumference of your forearm and input the value in centimeters. The measurement should be between 15 cm and 50 cm, recorded to one decimal place.

Step 3: Review Your Results

Once all the required fields have been filled in, the calculator will automatically compute and display the following results:

  • Lean Body Mass (kg): This value represents your body weight minus the fat mass. The calculation takes into account both your measurements and gender.
  • Muscle Mass (kg): The calculator provides an estimate of your muscle mass based on your lean body mass and gender.
  • Muscle Mass Percentage: This figure shows what proportion of your body weight is composed of muscle.
  • Fat Mass (kg): This result calculates the weight of fat in your body by subtracting the lean body mass from your total weight.
