Paint Coverage Calculator User Guide
This guide will walk you through using the Paint Coverage Calculator to estimate the amount of paint needed, the cost, and the effective coverage based on surface conditions. Follow these steps to make accurate calculations for your painting project.
Step 1: Input Surface Area
Start by entering the Total Wall Area you plan to paint. This should be measured in square meters (m²). Enter the value in the Surface Area (m²) field, ensuring it is at least 0.1 m². Decimal inputs are allowed if you have precise measurements of the area.
Step 2: Specify Number of Coats
Enter the Number of Coats you intend to apply. The number should be between 1 and 5, as these are the supported values. Input the number in whole numbers, for example, 1, 2, 3, etc. This indicates the durability and finish you’re aiming for.
Step 3: Select Surface Type
Choose a Surface Type from the dropdown menu. The surface type affects how much paint is absorbed, impacting the coverage required. You can select from the following options:
- Smooth/Previously Painted – Ideal for smooth surfaces with no texture.
- Light Texture – For surfaces with minor texture.
- Medium Texture – Applicable for surfaces with noticeable texture.
- Rough/Unpainted – Suitable for unpainted or significantly textured surfaces.
Step 4: Input Paint Coverage
Next, enter the Paint Coverage in m² per liter. Paint products typically specify this value on their labels, indicating how much area a liter of paint can cover. Input a value ranging between 1 and 20, with increments of 0.5 m².
Step 5: Enter Paint Price
Finally, input the Paint Price per Liter in your local currency (USD here). This should be a positive number, starting from $0.01 per liter. Accurate pricing ensures better cost estimation for your project.
Step 6: Calculate Results
Upon providing all necessary inputs, the calculator will compute the following:
- Total Area to Cover: This is calculated based on the surface area and type, showing the adjusted area in m².
- Paint Required: Displays the amount of paint needed in liters, given the total area, number of coats, and paint coverage.
- Total Paint Cost: Provides the estimated cost for the paint required, formatted in currency (USD).
- Actual Coverage per Liter: Offers an adjusted view of how much area a liter of paint covers for your project.
Following these steps ensures you input accurate data and obtain precise estimates for your painting needs. Review each section to double-check material and financial plans before starting your project.
