Guide to Using the Perimeter Calculator

Step 1: Open the Calculator

To begin calculating the perimeter of a geometric shape, first ensure that you have access to the Perimeter Calculator interface. This may be a web application, software tool, or a pre-installed calculator on your device.

Step 2: Select the Shape

Locate the Select Shape dropdown menu in the calculator interface. Click the menu to reveal a list of geometric shapes available for perimeter calculation. These shapes include:

  • Rectangle
  • Square
  • Triangle
  • Circle

Choose the shape for which you want to calculate the perimeter by clicking on the corresponding option.

Step 3: Enter the Necessary Dimensions

Based on the type of shape you selected, fill out the required dimensions in the input fields provided. Below are the dimensions needed for each shape:

  • Rectangle: Enter values for Length and Width.
  • Square: Enter a value for Length as all sides of a square are equal.
  • Triangle: Enter values for Side 1, Side 2, and Side 3.
  • Circle: Enter a value for Radius.

Ensure each entered value meets the criteria of being a positive number greater than or equal to 0.1, and adjust by increments of 0.1.

Step 4: Calculate the Perimeter

After entering the required dimensions, initiate the calculation process by pressing the designated Calculate button on the interface. The calculator will compute the perimeter using the following formulas:

  • Rectangle: Perimeter = 2 * (Length + Width)
  • Square: Perimeter = 4 * Length
  • Triangle: Perimeter = Side 1 + Side 2 + Side 3
  • Circle: Circumference = 2 * π * Radius

Step 5: View the Results

Once calculated, the perimeter of the selected shape will be displayed in the results section of the interface. The results will be formatted as a number with two decimal places and the unit “units”

Congratulations! You have successfully calculated the perimeter of your chosen shape using the Perimeter Calculator.
