How to Use the Pregnancy Weight Calculator

Step 1: Enter Your Pre-pregnancy Weight

Locate the input field labeled Pre-pregnancy Weight (kg). Enter your weight before pregnancy in kilograms. Please ensure that the value is between 35 kg and 200 kg, as entries outside this range are considered invalid.

Step 2: Enter Your Height

Next, find the input field labeled Height (cm). Input your height in centimeters, making sure to provide a value within the acceptable range of 140 cm to 210 cm.

Step 3: Specify the Current Week of Pregnancy

Locate the field labeled Current Week of Pregnancy. Enter the current week of your pregnancy. This value should be between 1 and 42, as these represent the typical range of a full-term pregnancy.

Step 4: Select the Type of Pregnancy

Find the dropdown menu labeled Type of Pregnancy. Choose between Single Pregnancy and Twin Pregnancy based on your current pregnancy type.

Step 5: View Your Results

After filling out all the input fields, the calculator will automatically use your data to compute several important metrics. Here is what you will see:

  • Pre-pregnancy BMI: This is calculated as your weight divided by the square of your height in meters and will be displayed with one decimal. This metric helps categorize your body mass index pre-pregnancy.
  • BMI Category: Based on your BMI, you will be categorized as Underweight, Normal weight, Overweight, or Obese.
  • Recommended Total Weight Gain (kg): This value depends on your BMI and type of pregnancy, recommending the total weight gain by the end of your pregnancy.
  • Expected Weight Gain at Current Week (kg): This indicates the expected weight gain so far in your current pregnancy week, formatted with one decimal.
  • Recommended Weekly Weight Gain (kg/week): This suggests a healthy weight gain rate per week during your pregnancy.
  • Target End-of-pregnancy Weight (kg): The overall target weight by the end of your pregnancy based on your pre-pregnancy weight and the recommended gain.

Review these metrics and consult with a healthcare provider if you have any concerns or questions about how any of these metrics apply to your personal health and pregnancy journey.
