How to Use the Proportion Calculator

The Proportion Calculator is designed to help you solve proportion problems by computing the missing value and displaying the ratio and percentage relationship between the values. Follow the steps below to effectively use the calculator.

Step 1: Enter the First Value (A)

Locate the input field labeled Value A. Enter the first numeric value here. Ensure it is greater than 0.0000001, as values below this threshold are not accepted. This value will be used as the base term for your proportion.

Step 2: Enter the Second Value (B)

Find the input field labeled Value B. Input the second value, adhering to the same minimum requirement of being greater than 0.0000001. This value will constitute the second part of your ratio.

Step 3: Enter the Third Value (C)

Locate the input field labeled Value C and enter your third numeric value. It must be greater than 0.0000001, as values smaller than this are not permissible. This value represents the corresponding proportional value to the first ratio.

Step 4: Calculate the Proportion Results

  • Value X (Missing Value): The calculator automatically computes the missing value (X) using the formula (B * C) / A. This value is displayed with four decimal places.
  • Ratio (A:B = C:X): It provides the ratio of A to B, calculated as B / A, and expresses this as a decimal rounded to four places.
  • Percentage Relationship: The calculator also determines the percentage relationship between values A and B using the formula (B / A) * 100, shown as a percentage with two decimal places.

Review the results to understand the proportional relationships and use them to inform your calculations or decisions.
