How to Use the QTc Calculator

The QTc Calculator is designed to help medical professionals estimate the corrected QT interval (QTc) using different correction formulas. Follow these steps to accurately calculate QTc based on your input data.

Input Fields

  1. QT Interval (ms):

Enter the measured QT interval from the ECG in milliseconds. Ensure the value you input is between 200 ms and 800 ms, as per the validation requirements.

  2. Heart Rate (bpm):

Input the patient’s heart rate in beats per minute. It is crucial that this value falls within the range of 20 bpm to 300 bpm for accurate results.

  3. Correction Formula:

Choose the desired correction formula from the available options (Bazett, Fridericia, Framingham, Hodges) by selecting the appropriate one from the dropdown menu. This selection determines which algorithm will be used to calculate the QTc.

Result Fields

  1. QTc Bazett:

The calculator will compute the QTc using Bazett’s formula if selected. The resulting QTc Bazett value will be displayed in milliseconds.

  2. QTc Fridericia:

Should you choose Fridericia’s formula, the QTc will be calculated and shown in milliseconds in this field.

  3. QTc Framingham:

Selecting the Framingham formula will display the QTc value using this specific calculation methodology, represented in milliseconds.

  4. QTc Hodges:

When opting for Hodges’ formula, the QTc will be computed and presented in milliseconds.

QTc Interpretation

Based on the calculated QTc values obtained from the selected formula, the calculator provides an interpretation:

  • Short QTc: Indicates a QTc below 350 ms.
  • Normal QTc: A result between 350 ms and 450 ms.
  • Borderline QTc: Values ranging from 451 ms to 500 ms.
  • Prolonged QTc: Implies a QTc greater than 500 ms.

This categorization assists in further clinical assessment and decision-making regarding patient care.

By following these steps, the QTc Calculator will provide you with a precise corrected QT interval along with a clear interpretation based on your input data and formula selection.
