Guide to Using the RMC Cost Calculator
The RMC Cost Calculator is designed to help you estimate the cost of constructing a building based on various parameters such as the floor area, type of construction, number of storeys, and location. Below is a detailed step-by-step guide on how to effectively use this calculator to obtain your construction cost estimates.
Step 1: Enter the Floor Area
Begin by entering the total floor area of your building in square meters. This value must be a number between 1 and 10,000. Make sure the value entered accurately reflects the total area as this will significantly impact the overall cost estimate.
Step 2: Select the Type of Construction
Next, choose the type of construction that best fits your planned building. The options available are:
- Basic (₱2,500/sqm)
- Standard (₱3,500/sqm)
- Semi-Elegant (₱4,500/sqm)
- Elegant (₱6,000/sqm)
- Luxury (₱8,000/sqm)
Selecting the appropriate type of construction will allow the calculator to compute a more accurate base construction cost.
Step 3: Determine the Number of Storeys
Choose the number of storeys your building will have. The options are:
- Single Storey (factor: 1)
- Two Storeys (factor: 1.1)
- Three Storeys (factor: 1.2)
This selection will adjust the base construction cost to consider the additional complexity and materials needed for multi-storey buildings.
Step 4: Select the Location Factor
Select the location where the construction will take place. The choices available are:
- Metro Manila (factor: 1)
- Provincial Urban (factor: 0.9)
- Provincial Rural (factor: 0.85)
Your location choice will adjust the cost due to varying expense factors in different regions.
Step 5: View the Results
After providing all the necessary inputs, the calculator will display the following cost estimates:
- Base Construction Cost: This is calculated by multiplying the floor area by the selected construction type rate.
- Cost Adjusted for Storeys: This is determined by multiplying the base construction cost by the storey factor.
- Total Construction Cost: This final cost is obtained by multiplying the storeys adjusted cost by the location factor.
- Cost per Square Meter: This is calculated by dividing the total construction cost by the floor area to provide a cost efficiency metric.
Each result is formatted in PHP currency to two decimal places for clarity and precision.
