Step 1: Selecting the Inequality Type

Begin by selecting the type of inequality you are working with. In the input field labeled Inequality Type, choose from the dropdown menu. The options available are:

  • Less Than (<): This option is used when the inequality is expressed as “ax + b < 0".
  • Less Than or Equal (≤): Choose this when the inequality is “ax + b ≤ 0”.
  • Greater Than (>): Select this if the inequality is “ax + b > 0”.
  • Greater Than or Equal (≥): Use this for inequalities like “ax + b ≥ 0”.

Step 2: Entering the Coefficient

Next, enter the coefficient for the variable term. In the Coefficient (a) input field, provide the numeric value for a. This is the coefficient of the variable x in your inequality equation. Make sure it is a number, and pay attention to any decimals if applicable.

Step 3: Specifying the Variable Term

Proceed to enter the value for the variable term x. This is done in the Variable Term (x) input field. This value should reflect the variable you are solving for in your inequality.

Step 4: Providing the Constant Term

In the Constant Term (b) field, enter the constant term from your inequality equation. This is the value that is not multiplied by the variable in the equation.

Step 5: Viewing the Solution

After you have entered all the necessary information, the calculator will provide the solution. You can view the solution on the Solution field where it calculates using the formula “(constant – coefficient) / variable” and formats the result with two decimal places.

Step 6: Understanding the Solution Interval

The Solution Interval field will give you the solution interval based on the inequality type selected at the beginning. This shows where the solution fits in terms of x in relation to the inequality type, formatted to two decimal places for clarity.

Step 7: Result in Standard Form

Lastly, the calculator will present the Standard Form of the equation in the field labeled as such. It calculates using the expression “coefficient * variable + constant”, formatted to two decimals and displayed as “(ax + b)”.
