Step 1: Enter Pounds

Locate the input field labeled Pounds. This field is intended for you to enter the number of pounds you wish to convert. Ensure that the value you enter is a non-negative whole number. The field is required, so you must enter a value to proceed.

Step 2: Enter Shillings

Find the input field labeled Shillings. Enter the number of shillings, keeping in mind that it must be a whole number between 0 and 19, inclusive. This field is also mandatory for the calculation.

Step 3: Enter Pence

Proceed to the Pence input field, where you will input the number of pence, ensuring you use a multiple of 0.25. Valid values range from 0 to 11. This input is required to complete the conversion.

• Modern Equivalent (GBP): If this option is selected, the output shows the equivalent in modern GBP, computed by multiplying the decimal pounds by 50. The outcome is formatted as a currency value in GBP with two decimal places.
• Total Pence: Regardless of the selected conversion type, the calculator also provides the total number of pence as additional information. It is calculated with the formula: (pounds * 240) + (shillings * 12) + pence, displaying the result in decimal format with a suffix ‘d’.
