How to Use the Tip Calculator

This guide will walk you through the process of using the Tip Calculator to calculate tips and split bills conveniently. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Enter the Bill Amount

  • Label: Bill Amount
  • Locate the input field labeled Bill Amount.
  • Enter the total amount of your bill. The amount should be a number greater than or equal to 0.01.
  • This input will be accepted in increments of 0.01 (for example, 20.00, 45.99).

Step 2: Select the Tip Percentage

  • Label: Tip Percentage
  • Find the dropdown menu labeled Tip Percentage.
  • Select the tip percentage based on the service you received:
    • 10% – Basic Service
    • 15% – Good Service
    • 18% – Great Service
    • 20% – Exceptional Service
    • 25% – Outstanding Service

Step 3: Specify How the Bill is Split

  • Label: Split Between (# of People)
  • Locate the input labeled Split Between (# of People).
  • Enter the number of people sharing the bill, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 100.
  • The number should be an integer (whole number) with a step of 1.

Step 4: Review the Calculated Results

After entering the inputs, review the following calculated results:

  • Tip Amount: This shows the total tip based on the bill amount and selected tip percentage. It is formatted as currency (USD) to two decimal places.
  • Total Bill with Tip: Displays the sum of the bill amount and the calculated tip amount.
  • Amount Per Person: This value shows how much each person needs to pay, including the tip. It divides the total amount by the number of people specified.
  • Tip Per Person: Indicates the portion of the tip each person is responsible for, calculated by dividing the total tip by the number of people.

Use these calculated values to ensure you are paying the correct amount and tipping accordingly.
