How to Use the Type Coverage Calculator

The Type Coverage Calculator is designed to help you determine the effectiveness of an attacking Pokémon type against one or two defending Pokémon types. Follow these steps to effectively use the calculator.

Step 1: Select the Attacking Type

Begin by selecting the type of the attacking Pokémon. This is the type that you are interested in checking its effectiveness. You will find a drop-down menu labeled Attacking Type, which offers various options. Choose the type that matches your attacking Pokémon from the list.

Step 2: Select the First Defending Type

Next, move on to selecting the first defending Pokémon type from the drop-down menu labeled Defending Type 1. This is a compulsory field, and you need to choose an option that represents one of the defending Pokémon types to compare against your attacking type.

Step 3: Select the Second Defending Type (Optional)

If applicable, you can select a secondary defending type from the menu labeled Defending Type 2 (Optional). If the defending Pokémon has a dual type, choose the second type from this menu. If there is only one type, select None from the list. Keep in mind that this step is optional.

Step 4: Calculate the Type Effectiveness

Once you have selected the attacking type and the defending type(s), the calculator will automatically compute the type effectiveness. The result will be displayed in the Type Effectiveness field. This result shows how effective your attacking type is against the selected defending type(s), expressed as a multiplier with two decimal places and followed by an ‘x’.

Step 5: Review the Effect Description

Accompanying the numerical result is a Effect Description field that provides a textual description of the effectiveness. This description will help you understand whether the attack will be weak, normal, super effective, or have no effect at all.

With these steps, you can easily assess the type coverage for any attacking Pokémon against a variety of defending types, optimizing your strategies during your Pokémon battles.
